Getting started
How to get pets in AION 2
How pet souls, unlocking and Pet Insight levels work — the three things every new player asks about first.
Every pet is unlocked the same way: collect 5 of its souls. Souls are not shared between pets — a soul drops for one specific pet, so unlocking 207 pets means farming 207 different soul pools. Each pet page lists the monsters that drop it and the single best target to farm.
Of the 207 pets we track, 163 have a documented best soul farm monster, shown with its level so you know roughly when you can start farming it. The remaining 44 have no monster soul source in the current client; they come from boxes and chests, currency shops or event rotations instead.
Souls do more than unlock. They raise a pet's Pet Insight level, which is what grants a pet its shared genus bonus. Reaching Insight 3 is also the point where a pet can transform — 200 of the 207 tracked pets can, and the 7 Special pets cannot.
1. Pick a target pet
Browse the full list and filter by genus, soul source or ability to find one worth farming first.
2. Farm its best monster
Each pet page names the monster with the highest soul chance and the level you need to be.
3. Unlock, then raise Insight
Spend 5 souls to unlock, then keep farming to 30 and 105 souls for the higher insight levels.

The exceptions
Special pets
The 7 Special pets break the standard pattern: they cannot transform, they have no genus stat bonus, and no monster in the current client drops their souls. They are collected for their looks and their collection count.
Genus bonuses
AION 2 genus insight effects
Insight is a genus-level bonus: every pet you collect in a genus feeds the same pool, and the bonus grows with the genus level. Here is what each of the 5 genera grants.
